Where it all began! Compass Port Huron began meeting in 2006 and has enjoyed steady growth ever since. We meet on the third Wednesday of every month (except July), and always enjoy great food, great conversation, inspirational speakers, and lots of laughs! We love welcoming new guests and we invite you step away from the office, come, be fed, and go back to work inspired!

How Faith, Business and Diversity Converge
Speaker: Anthony Jones
Anthony is Associate Provost/Assistant Vice-President for Enrollment Management at Howard University in Washington, DC. In this capacity he oversees the offices of Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar and Student Accounts. His responsibility includes providing strategic direction to the University enrollment objectives and administering a budget of over $200 million in operational and student aid funds.
Anthony has appeared on Fox New Los Angeles and been quoted in publications such as the Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, HR Executive Magazine, India Management Magazine and Ebony. He has spoken nationally to such groups as the American Council on Education, General Electric, Illinois Association of Educational Opportunities Program Personnel, Society for Human Resource Management, University of California at Berkeley, National YMCA Black Achievers and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida. To help individuals maximize their life experience, AJ has also published the book and workbook, Success By Design: Becoming the Person You Were Destined to Be.
Along with serving at Howard, Anthony has served as Director of Global Diversity at the Convergys Corporation and led recruitment for INROADS, Inc. as the National Director for Recruitment Services with clients including Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, Proctor & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, and IBM. More recently, AJ served as Vice-President of Enrollment Management at both Fisk University and DePauw University.
AJ has been active in the community, serving as a member of the board for Mercy Health Partners Hospital Systems, Leadership Ohio, and Cincinnati Music Hall's May Festival. He was chair of the Development (Fundraising) Committee for the Salvation Army of Nashville and also chaired fundraising efforts for the $1.5 million Darlene Bishop Home for Life, an alternative to abortion for women. He is a member of the Leadership Cincinnati Alumni Association and has been selected for Who’s Who in Black Cincinnati. While serving in Port Huron, AJ was first vice-president of the Port Huron Kiwanis Club, a member of both the St. Clair Community College Diversity Committee and Grants Committee for St. Clair County Community Foundation. Most proud of his ministry work, AJ served as an Elder for the Living Work Church of God in Christ and Solid Rock Church, where he also served on the faculty of Life Christian Bible Institute. He and his, wife, Dr. Tonya Jones, served as Youth Pastors at Port Huron’s New Covenant Life Ministries and shepherded their own flock in Nashville, TN as Pastors of Jubilee Nation Church. AJ and Tonya were privileged to be on staff at SONS Outreach and AJ also served as a staff member at Operation Transformation.
AJ is a Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Fisk University, holds a Masters from Vanderbilt University and a certification in Diversity Management from the University of Houston and ministry certification from Life Christian Bible Institute.
